Our New Normal

Sometimes I sit down to blog and can't think of anything new to say about the RV lifestyle.

Maybe because it's become our "new normal". We've lived in the RV for over two years and settled in quite nicely. It's hard to remember living in a house!

I didn't know if I could do this indefinitely. Recently, our neighbors told us they've lived in their RV for over 8 years. I remember thinking, "I could never do that."

Challenges arise living in a small space, no doubt. But then I think about the homeless and feel very thankful for my nice home!

Flowers

I love flowers. I think it's my dad's fault! :) He's always planted lots of colorful blooms every year.

When we moved into an RV, I wondered how our life would change. Even in our smaller space we still make room for flowers! Steve and my brother-in-law Ted put up a 6' privacy fence and created a small patio area outside our front door. We added a covered swing and, of course, flowers. Makes a nice place to relax on a summer day.

My Favorite Summer Place

This has been my favorite place this summer. There's nothing like relaxing and swinging. I've eaten lunch here, taken a nap, read a good book and just analyzed my life. As you can see, Little Bit enjoys it too!

Moving

A motorhome pulled out yesterday and Steve convinced me that we needed to move to that space.

The pad comes with an existing storage shed at no extra charge. Our household goods and furniture will fit in it and eliminate our storage unit and monthly fee.

I'm so thankful my brother-in-law, Ted, is helping with the move. Backing a 38 foot RV into a parking spot can be a challenge, but with the help of two-way radios they will do just fine.

The guys came up with a plan to create an outdoor area, plus give us more privacy. Next to the large concrete pad where the RV sits, they will add gravel and decorative patio stones. We can place our covered swing there, add flowers, and access the barbecue grill. And the best part? A 6 foot fence encloses the area for privacy and allows Little Bit to roam.

I'm so glad Steve talked me in to making this move!

You Can't Always Judge A Book By Its Cover

We struggled with our RV Park choices when we moved back to Colorado Springs.

Most RV parks are very nice but also very pricey. They cater more to tourists in this area and not to long term RVers like us.

We looked at several other parks but none seemed to fit our needs. The location of one park was not conveniently located to my new job. So we finally decided on a mobile home/RV park where my parents stayed a few years ago when they lived in their motorhome.

Steve didn't like this park and really didn't want to live here. But it is centrally located; a convenient commute to work and to visit my family; and very affordable. We moved in on June 9th and agreed to a one month trial.

It is now November 1st and we still live here. We've met some nice neighbors and feel settled. God has blessed and protected us.

Many times we don't want to choose something because of its looks.

But you can't always judge a book by it's cover.

Traveling with a Pet

Our dog, Little Bit, loves to travel with us.

The center console of our truck makes a perfect "seat" for her. A few pillows and blankets make it the right height and she can see out the windows.

Her favorite spot in the truck? One of our laps with the window down, her head out and ears flying. She just loves it!

One Year Anniversary

Next week we celebrate our one year anniversary in the RV. How time flies!

Living in the RV simplied the move and made it more enjoyable! :)

For the most part this past year has been a good journey and we are no worse for the wear.

Will we still be living in the RV this time next year? God only knows!
